Three weeks ago, Andreas Tölke’s Berlin apartment was photographed for a life-style magazine. The next day, the fifty-five-year old architecture and design journalist turned his Armani sofa into a makeshift bed, laid some mattresses on the parquet floor, and called up an actress friend who was coördinating emergency housing for refugees.
